A Pastor's Reflections

E. Stanley Jones, the great Methodist missionary to India, told about a doctor in New York City who wrote a prescription for a very sick man, an emotionally sick individual.
This is what he wrote: “Go down to Grand Central Station and find someone there who needs you and do something for that person.”
The ill man thought to himself, “Well, this doctor is crazy, plain and simple.” But he was in desperate need, so he went. He found a woman in a corner, sitting on her suitcase, weeping. Her daughter was supposed to be there to meet her, but she wasn’t there. She was terribly frightened by the big city.
So here is what he did. He found the daughter’s address in the telephone book and put the old mother into a taxi. He went with her, and even bought her some flowers on the way and he delivered her to the daughter. They both cried because they were so grateful.
After it was all over, he called the doctor on the telephone and said, “Hey, Doc, that was great medicine! I feel better already.”
The Bible proclaims, “The fruit of the Spirit is . . . KINDNESS.” (Galatians 5:22)
When the Holy Spirit touches and fills our lives, God causes us to be kind and loving to other people. And THAT is always good medicine!
Try it today and see for yourself.
