"Though Storms Are Raging" - - by Rev. Weldon Bares

October 17, 2016

Bob Dylan recently received the Nobel Prize in Literature. I have been a fan of his for many years.

He wrote a beautiful song in 1997 that was entitled, “Make You Feel My Love.” The song was also later recorded by Billy Joel, Garth Brooks and Adele. Some of the lyrics are:

When the rain is blowin' in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I would offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my love.

When the evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one there to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love.

Though storms are raging on the rollin' sea
And on the highway of regret
Though winds of change are throwing wild and free
You ain't seen nothin' like me yet.

Whenever I listen to this song, I imagine the words coming to me in a personal way from Jesus. He is the one who said, “Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

He is the one who called out to his disciples in the midst of a storm on the Sea of Galilee, “It is I, don’t be afraid.” (John 6:20)

Are you facing a storm today? Is the rain blowing in your face, and the whole world seems to be on your case?

There is Someone on your side. Someone who believes in you. His name is Jesus. That is the good news of the Gospel.
