
Sir Francis Bacon, the great philosopher from England, once said, “Some books are to be tasted, others are to be swallowed, and some few are to be chewed and digested.” The Bible is such a book.
Patrick Henry said, “This is a book worth more than all the others that were ever printed.”
In my opinion, it is the most remarkable book every written. It is a book that is filled with history, music, geography, poetry, philosophy, suffering, politics, biography, prophecy, drama and advice.
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the Bible is the best-selling book of all time, with over five billion copies sold and distributed.
Perhaps the greatest scientist who ever lived, Sir Isaac Newton, said this, “I hold the Scriptures of God to be the most sublime of philosophies. I find more sure marks of authenticity in the Bible than any profane history whatsoever.”
Jesus said, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away." (Luke 21:33)
In my own life, I read it every day and think about and study it. I have read the it cover to cover 25 times. I can’t seem to get enough of it.
The Psalmist affirmed, “Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” (Psalm 119: 105)
I encourage us today to open the Bible and spend a few minutes reading it. By doing so, may we discover God’s precious light upon our path.
