"Disproving God?" - - by Rev. Weldon Bares

February 5, 2020

I like the story about a college student who attended class one day where the topic was about the existence of God.

His professor stood in the front of the class and offered the following logic: “Has anyone in this class here today actually heard God?” Nobody spoke. “Has anyone in this class touched God?” Once again, nobody spoke. “Has anyone in this class seen God?” Nobody said anything. The professor then cried out, “Then obviously, there is NO God.”

Well, the young man didn’t like this line of reasoning. He thought about it, and he raised his hand and was called upon. He walked to the front of the class and  asked the following questions to those in the classroom: “Has anyone in this class actually heard our professor’s brain?” Silence. “Has anyone in this class touched his brain?” Absolute silence. “Has anyone in this class seen his brain?” Everybody was very quiet. The young man then stated, “Well then, obviously, according to his own logic, our professor has no brain.”

The story makes me smile. I find it interesting that the Bible never attempts to prove the existence of God. It only says, “The fool has said in his heart, there is no God.” (Psalm 14:1)
