I read the other day about an older man who told about reading comic books when he was a kid, like many of us did. He realized that every time that he read a Batman or Superman comic, there would always be three little words that were found on the last page of the comic book that would keep him interested in the story. Those three little words would make sure that we went to the store the next time to purchase the next issue. Those three words were: “TO BE CONTINUED.”
When his mother passed away, he shared that those same three little words were part of the way that he looked at life, at death, and at life beyond death. Here is what he said, “Everything that I read from the scripture says those three little words, ‘To be continued.’”
Christians believe that after every thing is said and done in this life, there is something so much greater that waits for us on the other side of the grave. “To be continued” is a promise of eternal life that we cannot even begin to imagine.
The Apostle Paul declared, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” (I Corinthians 2:9) I am so thankful today for three words: “To be continued.”
