I recently visited the baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. This was my first time to see it, and I was blown away.
The museum is soaked in history. Baseball history. I have been a baseball fan since I was a kid, so this was right up my alley.
The first inductees into the Hall of Fame in 1936 were Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, Christy Mathewson, Babe Ruth and Honus Wagner. To be in the hall of fame is a dream for every major league baseball player.
The book of Hebrews, chapter 11, is often called the Faith Hall of Fame. Named in that chapter are the heroes of our faith from holy scripture, starting with Abel and continuing to Samuel and the prophets. Everyone who is listed in Hebrews chapter 11 is there because of their faith in God.
The writer of the book of Hebrews defines faith as, “Confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” (Hebrews 11:1)
The famous evangelist and teacher from Scotland, Oswald Chambers, said, “Faith never knows where it is being led, but it loves and knows the One who is leading.”
Faith means everything. It really does. When it’s all said and done, faith in God is what gets us through.
The baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown is amazing, but what really counts is God’s Hall of Fame. It is found through faith.
