A friend of mine in north Louisiana is happily married. She has twin teenage boys. She is a wonderful mother and wife.
This summer she wanted to do something extra special for her boys, so she got online and bought some really good tickets for them to see the Kansas City Royals play the Houston Astros.
She made the hotel reservations and they drove all the way to Kansas City, all fired up because the boys love baseball.
So that day they drove to the stadium, but the gates were not opened yet. They were the first ones there. In fact, they were the only ones there. You know why? They soon found out the game between the Astros and the Royals was actually being played in Houston, not Kansas City. They went to the wrong city.
But they made the best of it and still had a great time in Kansas City doing all kinds of fun things. They were able to watch the game on television from the hotel.
You know, we sometimes get a little bit confused, and we end up in the wrong place. In our spiritual lives, it is so important that we hear and follow the words of Jesus, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one goes to the Father, except by me.” (John 14:6)
Jesus didn’t say that he would tell us the way or point out the way. He said that HE is the way. It’s a word that we certainly need to hear when we are lost or confused.
