"Secret of Success?" - by Rev. Weldon Bares

Two of the most influential books that I have ever read were written by Dale Carnegie: “How to Win Friends and Influence People” and “How to Stop Worrying and Start Living.”

The first book was written in 1936 and has sold over 30 million copies. It is number 19 on Time Magazine’s list of the most influential books ever written. Over the years I have read both of these books several times.

Somebody asked Dale Carnegie a question shortly before he died about the secret of his success. He answered by saying: “Every day I pray. I yield myself to God, and the tensions and anxieties go out of me, and peace and power come in.” Those are important words. “Every day I pray. I yield myself to God.”

The Apostle Paul wrote, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God.” (Philippians 4: 6-7)

I invite us today to consider trying this, to pray every day for just a few minutes and see what a difference that God can make in our lives.

Jesus said it like this: “Ask and it will be given to you. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7)

The life of Dale Carnegie was amazing. He was so influential. His secret to success? “Every day I pray.”
