"Ten Most Wanted List" - by Rev. Weldon Bares

The FBI’s “Ten Most Wanted List” has always been interesting to me. When I was a kid I would sometimes study the posters on the wall of the Post Office, certain that my gym teacher had to be somewhere on the list.

The list started in 1949 when a reporter from the International News Service wrote a story about the “toughest guys” wanted by the FBI. In response, the FBI gave ten names of wanted criminals.

The article created such interest that J. Edgar Hoover began listing the “Ten Most Wanted Fugitives” in March of 1950.

The FBI’s “Ten Most Wanted List” is now posted on the Internet through the FBI’s web site (www.fbi.gov). Millions of people can now study all the details of the list through their home computer or cell phone.

Do you realize that we could have a different kind of “most wanted” tag put upon our head? Who puts that tag upon us? None other than the Creator of the universe.

God is not out to “get us” because we have committed some criminal act. But God is seeking us because God wants a relationship with us. A personal relationship. God seeks us out because God loves us.

Jesus said it like this, “I have come to seek and to save the lost.” (Luke 19:10)

It is difficult for most of us to imagine and to comprehend, but it is the clear teaching of God’s Word: Almighty God loves you without any conditions or strings attached. You are “most wanted” by God.
