Have you ever heard of Glynn Wolfe? He passed away several years ago, alone, in California at the age of 88. No one even claimed his body.
Mr. Wolfe was a record-holder. A world record. The Guinness Book listed him as the Most Married Man, with 31 marriages.
He took a vow thirty-one times. On each occasion he said, "I do," but it never seemed to work out.
He had several children, grand-children, great grandchildren, many surviving ex-wives and ex-in-laws. But he still died alone. Apparently, he spent his whole life searching for something that he never found.
A famous rock band from Ireland, U2, sang, “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for.”
Have you found what you are looking for in life? Is it even possible to find what we are looking for? I believe it is. I believe that is the good news of the Bible.
Jesus of Nazareth claimed to be the way to true fulfillment in life. He said very simply, “I am the way, the truth and the life.” (John 14:6) He said, “Whoever drinks the water that I give him will never be thirsty again.” (John 4:14) Jesus said, “I have come that they might have life, life in all its fullness.” (John 10:10)
Have you found what you are looking for? Are you thirsty for meaning in life? The answer won’t be found in thirty-one marriages, but it CAN be found in Jesus Christ.
