"Ten Years Have Got Behind You" - by Rev. Weldon Bares

I am a big fan of Mitch Albom. He is the author of several notable books, including “Tuesdays with Morrie.” I recently read best-seller, “The Time Keeper.”

Early in the book he made this observation: “Try to imagine a life without timekeeping. You probably can’t. You know the month, the year, the day of the week. There is a clock on your wall or the dashboard of your car. You have a schedule, a calendar, a time for dinner or a movie.

“Yet all around you, timekeeping is ignored. Birds are not late. A dog does not check its watch. Deer do not fret over passing birthdays.

“Man alone measures time. Man alone chimes the hour. And, because of this, man alone suffers a paralyzing fear that no other creature endures. A fear of time running out.” (Page 8)

You know, there comes a moment when we realize that time is not as abundant as we once assumed. The days seem to pass more quickly and the opportunities become fewer.

One of my favorite songs by the rock band Pink Floyd is entitled, “Time.” Some of the lyrics go like this: “Tired of lying in the sunshine, staying home to watch the rain. You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today. And then one day you find ten years have got behind you. No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.”

Truly, the days can pass quickly. But I find comfort in my faith. I trust that God, who holds time itself, also holds us. I hold on to the words of the psalmist, “My times are in Your hand.” (Psalm 31:15)

This is a thoughtful and reflective post—Rev. Weldon Bares captures the passage of time in such a meaningful way. The way the article explores lessons learned, challenges overcome, and growth experienced over the past ten years really resonates with readers who are reflecting on their own journeys.

I especially like how it balances personal insight with universal themes, reminding us that both successes and struggles shape who we are. For students or busy professionals navigating their own milestones, resources like DBMS Assignment Help Online can help manage assignments and deadlines, giving more space to focus on personal reflection and growth.

This was a thoughtful reflection and I really appreciate how the author shares personal insights that many of us can relate to in our own spiritual journey. Posts like this help remind us that life moves quickly and sometimes it’s easy to feel like years have passed without us noticing how much we’ve changed or grown. It’s encouraging to read something that invites us to pause and reflect rather than just rush ahead without thinking about where we are or where we want to be. At the same time, many of us are juggling lots of responsibilities, whether it’s work, family, or school, and finding balance isn’t always easy. For students especially, trying to keep up with academic work while…
